The Pit is pleased to present New Sensations, a group exhibition of new work by Soojin Choi, Dee Clements, Tony Huynh, Raina Lee, Pedro Pedro, Jeremy Shockley, and Devin Troy Strother. The show introduces six artists to the gallery's program for the first time and debuts a new body of work by Strother, an artist from The Pit's roster. Rather than mixing the artists together, each body of work is installed as its own vignette, so the room reads as a series of micro solo presentations held in conversation with one another. The exhibition will be on view from November 7 - December 19, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 7, from 5-7 pm.
The artists arrive at the gallery from a range of places and disciplines. Seen together, the works in New Sensations treat the frame, the surface, and the object as active parts of the image rather than its boundaries. A basket becomes a frame, a painting becomes a box, and clay takes on the role of both canvas and figure. Much of the work also shares a sense of humor, finding the odd and the theatrical in ordinary subjects. The exhibition's title points to that physical, first-encounter quality: work meant to be experienced up close, by artists whose practices are newly in dialogue with The Pit's program.
